Plain and simple...The Ultimate Expansion System expands your radio to operate at a much greater range that it's stock condition. The Ultimate system not only gives you more channels, it also provides 40 memory channels and a full range scan. This scan can be programmed between any LO and HI frequency you select. Tuning is via a rotary encoder dial without detents and you simply tune up or down to find your frequency of interest.
The engine behind this amazing modification is the PIC microcontroller. The image below is the system installed in this TRC-490 radio. The device may seem small but it is powerful in its scope.
